Processing the best raw materials is intrinsic for WAWI. In terms of quality and taste they have to be the freshest and finest in the wider world – which is why all the materials are tested for their quality and checked through the entire production process. All that to ensure the quality and freshness of the products – a standard which has been at the heart of WAWI’s philosophy for over 60 years.
WAWI is very dedicated to the careful choice of the cocoa beans that build the base of the chocolate. Only hand picked fine cocoa beans from the growing areas in the world – such as Java, Sumatra and Madagascar – are used for the chocolate the fine chocolate products are made of. Our WAWI fine chocolate is characterised by its particularly mild taste and its bright colour.
Additionally, we process chocolate for which UTZ certified cocoa has been purchased. That way we support the sustainable cultivation of cocoa, which has massive impact on the protection of the nature and the improvement of the living conditions of the cocoa farmers and their families.
We also seek our high quality standards when it comes to rice. In puffed-rice production great heat and high pressure extract the water from the rice grain which then expands almost 15 times in volume. That way the rice keeps its exquisite natural taste and is especially light and digestible.
Within the entire WAWI Group, we monitor the entire production process: from the cocoa bean to the final product. Knowledge and expertise in all stages of the production ensure the highest quality and freshness – from choosing the right raw materials to thoroughly processing the fine ingredients to a first class product and a stringent quality control before our WAWI chocolates are placed and presented at the stores.
If you are an expert in doing something, you know your business. But only executed with passion, it turns into art.
For over 60 years, our maître-chocolatiers have honed their skills into art and put all their expertise and knowledge in the creation and production of our high quality products.
They continuously work on the improvement of our fine recipes and create new chocolate-ideas to surprise the chocolates lovers with the finest delights – not only in Germany, but also across its borders.
All production facilities of the Group are certified according to the International Food Standard (IFS) and partially to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) standard. Both standards place the highest demands on food manufacturers. This confirms the high quality standard that is at the heart of the WAWI Group philosophy.
